Bess Press is now offering 40% off of their new and old titles on their website! Although it only says 30% off on the website (using code 30off at checkout), I have confirmation that the 40% off code is BP40.
If you visit the Bamboo Ridge Press website, you’ll notice they are offering a great deal of any five of their books for $40. This is a great chance to catch up on your Bamboo Ridge library; I checked out some of the calculations and you can save over 50% on the cover prices with this deal. Great books at great prices!
I found this one page on the Mutual Publishing website that provides a special offer for four of Mutual’s finest cookbooks. Two are already out of stock, but it looks like By Request 2 (read our review) and What Maui Likes To Eat are still both available at the reduced prices. Anime Art Contest
If you’re a talented teenager and/or know one—Liliha Public Library’s Anime & Manga Art Contest is still ongoing until December 30, 2010. Bamboo Ridge 100th Issue Submissions
The deadline for submissions to be included in Bamboo Ridge Press’ 100th issue is Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:45 PM. They hope to feature 100 pieces of writing, so flex your literary muscles and submit! Details at bambooridge.com.

11:00am – Big Island! Author Event at Basically Books in Hilo, HI. Bring the keiki for a family–friendly event with Makela M. Bruno–Kidani! Makela will be signing her popular children’s book, Aia He Kaheka: There’s A Tide Pool. This counting book for young children is a fun way to learn and identify some of the i’a (Hawaiian sea creatures) that live in our ocean. More info

02:00pm – The party doesn’t stop at Basically Books in Hilo! There will be a special Author Event with Patsy Y. Iwasaki and illustrator Avery Berido in the store. Meet and talk story with the team behind Hamakua Hero: A True Plantation Story! Written and illustrated in manga style, this graphic novel tells the true story of Katsu Goto, a Japanese man who journeyed to Hawaii during the late 1800’s seeking a better life as a plantation worker.
