It’s time…it’s time…it’s Book End Time! Welcome to this week’s Book End, highlighting the week’s literary and library events here in Hawaiʻi.

Holiday Library Hours
In observance of the Presidents Day 2012 Holiday, all public libraries will be closed Saturday through Monday, February 18 – 20.
Five libraries that are normally closed on Fridays will be open on Friday, February 17:

- Liliha Public Library (telephone: 587-7577)
- Makawao Public Library (telephone: 573-8785)
- Manoa Public Library (telephone: 988-0459)
In addition, Kaimuki Public Library (telephone: 733-8422) will be open on Friday, February 24. Please visit the HSPLS website: www.librarieshawaii.org or call your local library for public service hours.

Saturday, February 18
- Friends of the Waialua Public Library Book Sale – Friends of the Waialua Public Library holds a book sale at the library every 3rd Saturday of the month! There is also a bake sale at the book sale. Join the Waialua Friends in supporting Waialua Public Library and find cheap books and ono treats! Waialua Public Library (67-068 Kealohanui St.); 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. - Jerilyn Ito book event – A book signing and story telling with the children’s book author. Join Jerilyn as she does a reading of Double Rainbow Island, and then have her sign your very own personal copy. Kaua‘i Museum (4428 Rice St. Lihu‘e); 10:00 A.M. to Noon. - Special Children’s Storytime – Come to the book store every Saturday for a fun keiki story time reading. This week is special! Come and meet everyone’s favorite monkey friend, Curious George! - Feng Shui for Hawaii Gardens event – Join the book store in welcoming feng shui expert Clear Englebert for a signing and discussion of his new book Feng Shui for Hawaii Gardens [read our review here]. - Costume Character Storytime – Join the bookstore in welcoming a very special guest, Arthur! Following a special Saturday Storytime PBS favorite, he’ll visit the keiki for hand shaking, hugs and picture time with the entire family! - Sonny Tanabe: The Evolution of Freediving – A fascinating new book, The Evolution of Freediving delves into the history of spearfishing in Hawaii. Absolute must for local fishing enthusiasts. Sunday, February 19
- Kauai Community College Library Used Book Sale – Give a used book a new home. Come for the Annual ACF Breakfast and check out their used book offerings at the Technology Building. You can still come for the book sale, even if you’re not having breakfast. Kauai Campus, Technology Building; 6:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. For more information about the Breakfast and sale, click here.
