Antonio Rocha’s “Jungle Tales” – Antonio Rocha is an internationally-acclaimed and award-winning storyteller, mime, and actor from Brazil. Admission is free. Rocha’s unique solo performances of stories and mime have been presented from Singapore to Hawaii and in many places in between including 14 countries on six continents. His repertoire of animal tales with an ecological theme and a myriad of fantastic sound effects will not only entertain but also educate. Experience Rocha’s “Jungle Tales,” a wild trip into the jungles of Africa and Brazil. This 45-minute performance is recommended for ages 5 and older. - Friends of Kaneohe Library 1/2 off Book Sale – The 1/2 off sale of the Friends of Kaneohe Library will be for the entire month July. All books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, comics, etc. will be on sale for the whole month. Bookstore is in the basement of the library. Kaneohe Public Library (45-829 Kamehameha Hwy); 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. - Balloon Monsoon – Balloon Monsoon will perform a magic show followed by balloon twisting for children ages 5 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Kailua Public Library; 10:30 A.M. For more information, call 266-9911.
Mad Science presents “Fire and Ice” – Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to attend the Library’s Summer Reading Grand Finale where Mad Science’s scientists will present exothermic chemical reactions and the wonders of dry ice with flash paper, an “explosive” bottle blast, a crazy bubble shower and creepy, foggy effects. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. The Friends of the Library of Hawaii is sponsoring this program. Hawaii State Library – Edna Allyn Room for Children; 10:30 A.M. - Special Storytime with Lani Moo – The free event featuring Lani Moo, the Meadow Gold cow mascot, will be conducted in the Meeting Room. Keiki ages 5 and older, accompanied by a parent or caregiver, are invited to listen to stories and sing songs about cows, other farm animals, and dairy products. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their cameras for a photo opportunity of their keiki with Lani Moo. The event will also include simple crafts, a special snack, and complimentary items. “Magi-Kel” Show – The free event will be conducted in the Programming Room. Kelvin Chun, an award-winning educator, magician, balloon sculptor and kite enthusiast, has performed his popular balloon and magic show for more than 20 years. He has competed and performed internationally with world class magicians in prestigious magic show competitions in venues such as Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort which features a 1,800-seat showroom and the world’s largest stage. - Friends of Kaneohe Library 1/2 off Book Sale – The 1/2 off sale of the Friends of Kaneohe Library will be for the entire month July. - Ohana Arts Music and Theatre Showcase – Students from the Ohana Arts Summer School of the Arts will perform musical theater, pop, and original songs from their up-coming musical theater revue. These talented students range in age from 8 to 18. Students from the Composer-Performer Workshop will perform their own original compositions and their arrangements of well-known songs. Students from the Musical Theater Workshop will dance, act, and sing pop hits and musical theater favorites. Musical numbers from the Ohana Arts production of “Oliver” will also be performed.
