It’s time…it’s time…it’s Book End Time! Welcome to this week’s Book End, highlighting the weekend’s literary and library events here in Hawaii.
Looks like there’s quite a few interesting literary happenings on Saturday. Misty and I are both highly interested in going to Aina Haina Library at 10am to attend Cades Award winning author Lisa Linn Kanae’s workshop. Hopefully we can wake up early enough! Barnes & Noble Kahala is the place to be on Saturday as well, as there are three author events going on that day. Come at 1pm and you get two authors, Crystal “Pikko” Watanabe one of the Yum-Yum Bento Box authors (follow her on Twitter!), and Paul Javier (Where’s Snowy in O’ahu?). Later at 3pm, see Shan Correa, author of debut novel Gaff, which dives into the world of cockfighting (see the Star-Advertiser article here). I really dig the cover; there’s this great interview I read months ago at Peachtree Publishing detailing the evolution of the book’s cover design. Check it out here.
Definitely has my curiousity peaked…how about you?
Book Update
Monika Mira, the author of The Complete Hawaiian Reef Fish Coloring Book (which we reviewed back in January here) gave us an exciting update on her book. It is the recipient of the Dr. Toy Best Children’s Vacation Products award and The Creative Child Magazine Book of The Year Award (for its category). If you’re looking for a fun activity book for your children with lots of educational material about the ocean (and green-friendly to boot!) then check this one out. I’ve seen it available at Target and the chain bookstores so you have no excuse.
Now on to the events!
