- HMC East Book and Gift Fair – To support the Aloha United Way (AUW), the Hawaii Medical Center is putting on its annual “Books are Fun” Book Fair. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the non-profit organization to help with its programs. - Friends of the Waialua Library Book Sale – Every third Saturday is a book sale at the library! There is also a bake sale at the book sale. - Honolulu Town, The Edgy Waterfront – A discussion on the history of the Honolulu waterfront area from the first settlement of Kou to the events leading up to Statehood in 1959. Learn about the waterfront’s colorful past from the days of sandalwood to the arrival of missionaries, plantation workers, ocean-borne tourists and soldiers on leave. Suitable for ages 12 and older. - The Hawaii Book of Rice – Come and meet author Cheryl Chee Tsutsumi as she signs copies of her new book, The Hawai’i Book of Rice: Tales, Trivia and 101 Great Recipes. Volunteers from The Hawai’i Foodbank will also be collecting donations, so please bring a canned good to give. Otherwise, Barnes & Noble will kindly donate THREE canned goods for every copy of The Hawai’i Book of Rice sold, so now is the perfect time to buy the book, get it signed, and give to a worthy cause. - Bamboo Ridge #98 Reading and Reception – Bamboo Ridge is at it again- join us in celebrating Issue #98. There will be a reading and book signing by writers: Amalia B. Bueno, Shoshana Hannemann, Lanning C. Lee, Wing Tek Lum, Patrick Moser and Mark Thiel. Other contributing authors will attend the reading and cover artist, Noe Tanigawa will also be in attendance.
