Saturday, September 7

  • Friends of the Libraries, Kona (FOLK) Book Sale – Friends of the Libraries, Kona will host a book sale on the second Saturday of each month (excluding Aug. and Dec. – In October the book sale will take place on Oct. 20th).   • Special Storytime – Come to the book store every Saturday for a fun keiki story time reading.  This week they will be reading Margo Goes to School written and illustrated by Roz Chast. There is so much to do at school, from lessons to lunch to building a block tower to the moon.   • “The Eye of the Lion” book signing – Experience a hurricane through the eyes of a child. Master storyteller, Mark Jeffers of Storybook Theatre, recounts the story of Hurricane ‘Iniki as it passes over the island of Kauaʻi leaving a wake of destruction in its path. He shows how one Hawaiian family prepares for the hurricane and supports each other while the storm passes over their home. Jeffers will be signing copies of his keiki book The Eye of the Lion, The Story of My First Hurricane. Storybook Theatre of Hawaii, Hanapepe; 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M.   • Book Launching w/ author Reece Jones – Join the book store in celebrating the release of Border Walls: Security and the War on Terror in the United States, India and Israel by Reece Jones.
