There are no less than four book events happening this Wednesday, November 30—spread out across the Hawaiian Islands. If you like to read, listen to performances, or just appreciate the celebration of our local culture and flavor, then I highly recommend attending one of these events. Local Okinawan Pidgin Performance
“Da Pidgin Guerrilla,” Lee Tonouchi, will be reading from his new book Oriental Faddah and Son at the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Art Auditorium on Wednesday, November 30, 7:00 P.M.
This is a FREE event. Light pupu and refreshments will be available. Tonouchi will stick around after the performance to sign copies of the book, as well.

Georgia O’Keeffe’s Hawai‘i book presentation and signing
For three months in 1939, Georgia O’Keeffe visited Hawai’i and painted the Islands’ tropical plants and landscapes, capturing their essential beauty. During two weeks on Maui, 12-year-old Patricia Jennings served as O’Keeffe’s guide and companion showing her the lush valleys and hills of Wailuku and plunging waterfalls, lava bridges and black sand beaches of Hana. The bond between the pre-teen and the American icon lasted a lifetime.
Patricia Jennings new book, Georgia O’Keeffe’s Hawai‘i, includes O’Keeffe’s letters from Maui, her Hawai‘i paintings, & 50 period photos. Patricia will share her memories of the legendary artist and will be available to sign books.

No Choice But To Follow Book Reading
As part of the Hawai‘i Pacific University English Department’s Local Writers Reading Series, the authors of the beautifully conceived linked poetry collection, No Choice but to Follow, will be reading from their book. Come and listen to the verbal stylings of poets Ann Inoshita, Juliet S. Kono, Christy Passion and Jean Yamasaki Toyama.
The event will be held at HPU’s Hawai‘i Loa Campus (45-045 Kamehameha Hwy.) in the Paul and Vi Loo Theatre located on the third floor of the AC Building. The reception starts at 7:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and the Reading and Q&A session will last from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
This event is FREE and open to the public. FREE parking will also be available on the campus.

The Hawai‘i Book of Rice Holiday Signing
Come on down to this fun event where author Cheryl Chee Tsutsumi will be signing copies of The Hawai‘i Book of Rice. Pick up a copy and pair it with a bag of rice or a rice cooker for a great holiday gift! A portion of the sales from The Hawai‘i Book of Rice benefits the Hawaii Foodbank to aid the organization in feeding those in need.
On Wednesday, November 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Cheryl will be signing copies of her book at the Kukuiula Farmers Market at The Shops at Kukuiula (2829 Ala Kalanikaumaka, Koloa, Kauai).
