DAN KOIS, AUTHOR OF “FACING FUTURE,” COMING TO HAWAI’I MAY 13-16 FOR READINGS, SIGNINGS, AND APPEARANCES
Only island visit in support of the new book about BRUDDAH IZ, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole
Gaining unprecedented access to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s family, friends, bandmates, and record label, Dan Kois tells the remarkable story of Bruddah Iz and the album that changed his life — and his death. FACING FUTURE is part biography, part provocative cultural exploration of the album that transformed Hawaiian music.
Now Dan Kois — former Honolulu resident and now a writer for the New York Times, Washington Post, New York magazine, Slate, and the Village Voice — is coming to Hawai’i to promote the book. The four-day trip will be Dan’s only visit to the islands.
Dan will make appearances at the Hawai’i Book and Music Festival, to be held May 15-16 at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds at Honolulu Hale. His four scheduled appearances include a reading at the Authors Pavilion and a panel discussion of Iz’s life at the Hawaiian Culture Alana Pavilion. Dan will also be reading, talking story, and signing books at four bookstores around O’ahu.
