This Saturday, June 22, there will be an historical presentation, The History of the Waialua Sugar Company, presented by local historian Boyd Ready at the Historic Haleʻiwa Gym from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The University of Hawaiʻi Center for Oral History (authors of Talking Hawaiʻi’s Story) will also be on hand to perform dramatizations of stories from Waialua Sugar Plantation. There will also be special appearances by author and historian Barbara Kawakami and photo journalist Franco Salmoiraghi. Exhibitors will showcase numerous plantation era artifacts, clothing and historic photos. Admission will be $10 presale and $12 at the door (includes heavy pupu, dessert and beverages).
